New Aussie website makes finding agistment easier than ever

Created by a Queensland couple, Farmshare Agistment is a new Aussie-made website making it easier than ever for horse and cattle owners nationwide to find agistment.

Anyone that’s ever tried searching for agistment knows how much of a struggle it can be to find a paddock for their livestock. And this struggle is seemingly getting harder in recent years. That is until one Aussie couple from South-East Queensland set out to make a change and created, Farmshare Agistment a new Aussie-made website that is cattle farmers and horse-owners find and offer Agistment nation-wide.

Created by Georgia, and David from Warwick, QLD, Farmshare Agistment was first created after the couple realised that a better solution was needed when a bushfire threatened David’s family farm.

“Around the start of last year, we had a bushfire tear through our region and come right up to our fence line. But our neighbours weren’t so lucky” David said.

“We were seeing huge demand for people looking for a safe place to keep their horses and livestock. Local Facebook groups were overflowing with people desperately trying to find agistment and a safe place to keep their animals, we thought there has to be a better way” David stated.

Inspired to help the community, Georgia and David set out to solve the agistment problem and make agistment more readily available and accessible across Australia.

The Farmshare Agistment website is very simple to use and allows anyone with a spare paddock to list it for agistment online. For users looking for agistment Farmshare Agistment has become the largest online marketplace for agistment, making it the best place to search. Users can search for what they’re looking for and find all the current availabilities from one website.

After creating the website, the pair posted it to a few local Facebook groups. Since then, they’ve seen huge demand, with the website has been growing exponentially. Now thousands of users every week use Farmshare Agistment to find agistment across Australia. With some users even referring the website as “The Airbnb of Agistment.”

“We were only expecting a handful of locals to use it, but it’s really taken off. We now have over 130+ properties already listed for agistment, and around 2,500 people using the site ever week to help find agistment.” Georgia said.

The website allows users to search by location and filter listings by the type of agistment services they need. For property owners, listing a paddock or facility takes just a few minutes.

“We’ve had everyone from small acreage owners to large agistment centers listing paddocks. And agistees across the country are using it for long-term agistment, short stays, and emergency relocations.”  David exclaimed.

Perhaps the best part, Farmshare Agistment is completely free-to-use. Property owners can post or advertise their place at no cost, while agistees can search and find the perfect place without paying a cent. Georgia and David plan to keep the platform free into the future, describing it as a free community service.

You can explore the Farmshare Agistment platform at www.TheFarmshare.com it’s a great way to find agistment anywhere in Australia. Property owners can also list their place on the site quickly and easily and completely free of charge. It’s a great way to post to thousands of users every week looking for agistment.

Trace minerals are required for optimal growth, reproduction, and immunity. Optimising trace mineral status relying solely on oral supplements across a herd may fail because of variation in individual intake and reduced absorption due to antagonism of other ration components and minerals. The use of injectable trace mineral supplements has been associated with positive reproductive outcomes including improved conception rate, increased odds of pregnancy and greater final in calf rate. A study conducted on 2,168 dairy cows, administered injectable trace minerals, four weeks prior to calving and again four weeks prior to the start of mating showed treated animals had a 3.3 per cent greater final in-calf rate, and a reduced time from start of mating to conception, compared to control animals 1 . The Importance of B12 Dr Carl Eden, Technical Services Veterinarian with Boehringer Ingelheim says “Vitamin B12 is sometimes referred to as a ‘super vitamin’ because it is only required in very small amounts but vital to many essential metabolic pathways. However, demand for B12 can vary considerably during the year and we see serum levels of B12 fall at critical times, such as the first few months after calving.” Vitamin B12 contains cobalt, so deficiency in cobalt can lead to deficiency in vitamin B12 because ruminants get most of their B12 as a byproduct of ruminal fermentation where the bacteria in their rumen assemble B12 from cobalt for use by the cow. Sub-optimal trace mineral and vitamin B12 status at calving, mating, and drying off has been shown to negatively impact growth, reproduction, and immunity. Using a trace mineral injectable containing vitamin B12 can improve trace mineral and vitamin B12 status at these critical times. Marks-Min with Vitamin B12 – The Evidence In the largest trace element study to date, Marks-Min Injectable Trace Mineral with Vitamin B12 demonstrated remarkable results when compared to a reference trace mineral injection. “Given the differences between Marks-Min and other products on the market, we wanted to generate a compelling data set to demonstrate how effective it was compared to the pioneer product. We entrusted this work to a third-party research company” says Dr Eden. “We chose farms that were at the top of their game from a reproductive perspective. We made sure that the farms had no evidence of trace element or vitamin B12 deficiencies or excess.” Across all outcomes of interest, Marks-Min demonstrated clear non-inferiority when compared to the reference product. Outcomes measured included submission, pregnancy and conception rates, and six week in-calf rate. Marks-Min demonstrated it is highly suited as an alternative treatment to the reference product.
